Annual Report and Financial Statements 2011

Islamic Relief Worldwide

This year marked one of the most significant milestones for Islamic Relief since it was established more than 27 years ago. 2011 was the year we embraced a new and important strategic direction which responds to the emerging challenges that we face in the battle against poverty, suffering and social injustice.

I welcome you to this report, which gives you information about our new global strategy and how, with the generous support of our donors, this innovative approach is already allowing us to deepen the positive impact we make on the lives of the poorest people in the world.

Islamic Relief Worldwide and subsidiary undertaking

Islamic Relief was born out of emergency response programmes and, in 2010, our emergency response included programmes to help communities rebuild their lives and boost their resilience to disasters.

Annual Report and Summary Financial Statements 2009

Islamic Relief Worldwide and subsidiary undertakings

Islamic Relief envisages a world where communities are empowered, social obligations are fulfilled and people respond as one to the suffering of others. During 2009, Islamic Relief delivered aid to survivors of the Gaza conflict, the Sumatra earthquake, Cyclone Aila in Bangladesh, and fighting in northwest Pakistan and in northern Yemen.

Throughout the year we continued to promote development and carried out projects to help communities become self-reliant by supporting livelihoods and education, providing training and facilitating employment in some of the most vulnerable communities around the world.

Annual Report and Summary Financial Statements 2008

Islamic Relief Worldwide and subsidiary undertakings

The work of Islamic Relief is as relevant today as it ever has been. Those who are suffering most acutely from the global financial crisis are those who had so little to begin with. We are committed to helping people in need, whether they are the victim of a natural disaster, of conflict or poverty. However, we also work with communities to reach a point where they no longer need our help.
